Uproot digital weeds.

Rebuild meaningful lives.

Written by humans, for humans.

The Mission

Syntropic Foundation helps people outgrow digital media misuse and rebuild responsible, meaningful lives.

The Problem

Many digital media platforms (social media, online gaming, video streaming, etc.) increasingly use methods purposefully designed to enslave users.

By destroying mental capacity and covertly implanting habitual, subconscious behaviors, they take advantage of weakened self-control and trap users in an endless cycle of consumption.

We're teaching the youth to break free from the lock of the screen.

We're guiding people to uproot "digital weeds" and renew societal growth.

This problem isn't one we can afford to leave accepted.

We've all seen the emerging consequences.  It's only getting worse.

The future of the human race depends on the rising generation.

And this generation is silently drowning online.

But only trying to restrict people's digital media consumption without their cooperation won't fix this.

People themselves need to recognize their harmful behaviors in order to stop them.

Uprooting this already deeply entrenched problem is hard.

That's why we're reaching out to help.

The Vision

Digital media shouldn't control us.  We should control it.

We envision...

  • A society that isn't wasting away in endless scroll feeds; that no longer bows to instant notifications or clickbait; that stands in control of its digital media use.

  • A community that has stopped digital-induced isolation, and instead nurtures mental capabilities and personal connection through healthy technology use.

  • A world that has outgrown digital media misuse, and prepares people who are ready to contribute towards a better world.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is "digital media"?

Digital media is a term we use to refer to all forms of media online or on a screened device: social media, video gaming, television, news platforms, instant messaging (including with AI), and more.

  • What counts as "digital media misuse"?

We define "misuse" as any form of digital media consumption that leads to noticeable harm in a person's life.

Some common consumption behaviors include but aren't limited to:

  • scrolling without purpose, limit, or during times not appropriate

  • video gaming for hours on end without breaks

  • binge-watching from recommendation feeds without restraint (digital spoon-feeding)

  • using AI for tasks which are meant to be done by hand

Digital media misuse often amplifies (if not being the root of) effects including but not limited to:

  • excessive tiredness, eye strain, and other related bodily health issues

  • unclear speech / inability to interact socially in real life

  • incoherent thought and a lack of attention to detail

  • restlessness, impatience, increased short temper

  • diminished self-control e.g. inable to stop doing something

  • depleted personal motivation

  • Is technology (like personal devices or the internet) itself bad?

Technology itself has significantly benefitted society (e.g. convenient communication, online shopping, faster research / education, the fact that you're reading on this website, etc.).  The problem is that technology is often abused.  Many digital platforms use inherently malicious tactics, costing users' overall livelihoods.  Further, the content that is produced and spread on such platforms can also itself be dangerous (e.g. misinformation and brainwashing, mentally / emotionally harmful material, or explicit and abusive content).

While we do to fight for platforms to rectify their practices for consumers' sake, another arguably-more important battle is for consumers themselves to stop their own digital media misuse.  Oftentimes, people indulge in such behaviors without knowing better or knowing how to stop.  We believe digital media misuse is a significant contributor to the general deterioration of our society we're seeing.  In order to stop this problem, we have to help the people who are being hurt by abusive behaviors to recognize them and recover.  Syntropic Foundation is helping people to break free from digital media misuse and replace it with productive, healthy technology behavior.

  • Is Syntropic Foundation only for addiction recovery?

The aid and resources Syntropic Foundation provides is for anyone wanting to uproot "digital weeds" from their own lives or those of others close to them.  We don't use the term "recovery" to explicitly refer to addiction, but rather to any individual's successful campaign in overcoming digital media misuse.  After all, our mission is to recover that which has been lost in the online abyss, restoring meaningful lives back to people grounded in the real world.

  • Is Syntropic Foundation a religious organization?

Syntropic Foundation is a nonprofit not affiliated with any specific religious organization.  We welcome all people.
